Here we are… back to the blogging. The baby cockatiels are growing; the oldest has its eyes opened. One egg did not hatch, so I removed it to give the parents a break. Now they enter the box to feed the young, not having to incubate anymore. Jake and Molly are eating us out of house and home. My husband has been “trained” to donate pieces of his homemade bread, with butter on it please, every time he walks through the kitchen area. We sit down to a meal and Jake and Molly are climbing the cage bars in a state of panic, begging for sweet potatoes, green bean, squash, peas, carrots, anything that’s green or orange. They are good and healthy birds and have been the best parents ever, especially this being their first attempt at nesting. We are proud of them.
Storms are on the way to our area. Torrential rains, winds, severe weather, everything except snow, is forecast. We’ll have to wait and see…the weather people have not rated very good this year or last fall. I usually do our weather forecasting. I’ll look out the window and see what’s on the horizon! Right now it’s cloudy and overcast with a sniff of dampness in the chilly air. How’s that for forecasting?
Looks like it will be chicken and dumplings for supper tonight. The chicken and broth are simmering now. Sure makes the house smell good. Jake and Molly will partake of the peas and carrots, that’s all.
Gotta go for now. We’ll hope to see you back again tomorrow. The second baby chick should have its eyes open and we’ll know how rough the storms were. Take care and stay safe.
