When things went wrong
Or he wanted to think
He would climb this tree
In my front yard
There he’d sit
Thinking and talking
About anything and everything
But when I’d walk up to him
And ask, “What ya doin’, Big Boy?”
He’d just say, “Nothin’.”
I’d walk back into the house
And sit by the kitchen window
Watching this little boy
Trying to figure out life.
This would get me to thinking
About things in my life, and
Sometimes my wife would come in
And say, “What are you doing, Hon?”
I’d just say, “Nothin’.”
