Name Dropping

Do you know my Jesus?  These writers did, I am sure of it.  Do you know them and the hymns they wrote?

Let’s venture a little test:  connect the names with their hymn title and perhaps hum a little hymn!

1.  Folliott S. Pierpoint

2.  Martin Rinhart

3.  Edmund H. Sears

4.  Henry van Dyke

5.  Sabina Baring-Gould

6.  Henry F. Lyte

7.  Jeremiah E. Rankin

8.  Maltbie D. Babcock

9.  Joseph Mohr

A.  Silent Night

B.  This is my Father’s World

C.  For the Beauty of the Earth

D.  Now Thank We All Our God

E.  It Came Upon the Midnight Clear

F.  Now the Day is Over

G.  Abide with Me:  Fast Falls the Eventide

H.  God Be With You Till We Meet Again

 J.  Joyful, Joyful—We Adore Thee

This exercise is presented in order to perhaps reintroduce you to the beauty and truth contained in the hymns of old.  Enjoy!

Obviously I do not know who wrote the songs I like to butcher with my voice. 🙂
I did not fare well in this test.

    • Kristine,

Thanks for trying! (I cheated–I wrote the quiz.) 🙂

I welcome you to and hope you visit again. Your blog looks inviting; will see you there!

  2. I love the old hymns. Some have been deleted from the list of denominational churches, but the majority are still listed. Time changes even the hymnbooks!

    Thanks, Anne.

  3. Thanks for the answers otherwise a Google search would have ensued. Nice work!

  4. Inside joke: I feel like I’m back in my old radio D.J. days…
