“It’s perfect; that’s the one!”

Shouted the most High Priest.

And the lamb that was chosen

Was handed him for the feast.

Bleats and bells mixed with dust

As the throng waited in awe;

Behind the veil, the ransom must

Complete the atonement law.

The Priest sprinkled the blood

Upon the holy altar of God.

Forgiveness appeared in bud,

Dispersing the sins abroad.

The Son’s blood was shed

Heart and spirit forsaken.

A life taken in my stead…

At last my soul did waken.

God’s love song fills the air:

“Unto you a Savior is born;

A Sacrifice offered so rare.

Holy blood the altar adorns

Your soul has been reborn.”
