Are You Degree’d?

Isaiah 1:17 “Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.”

Are you educated?

“Sure,” you say. “I graduated from high school in 1961, got degreed in college and went on to learn seven languages, and can play the violin. I have read all the bestselling books, traveled to all four corners of the world, have met many important people, and have tasted delicacies from the finest restaurants anywhere.”

Yes, but are you educated?

I found this test in an old book and was fascinated with the questions and thoughts presented. I’d like to pass it on to you so you can feed upon the words and thoughts with me. If you can answer yes to all the following questions, you are educated. If you cannot, then you are not really educated.

“Has your education made you a brother/sister to the weak?

Do you know what it is to be a friend yourself?

Can you look an honest man or a pure woman straight in the eye?

Do you see anything to love in a little child?

Can you be happy alone?

Can you look into a mud puddle by the wayside and see anything in the puddle but mud?

Can you look into the sky at night and see beyond the stars?

Can your soul claim a relationship with our Creator?”

Thousands more doors and windows have just opened up for my exploration and education; I must travel on.

Thank you, Lord, for eyes that see, ears that hear and a heart that loves. But there’s much more.

Does God Lie? NO!

A question has risen from a professing atheist: “Does God lie? The Bible says that God protects believers from harm, yet in all truth,  they suffer like any other person.  Therefore, God lies.  If God lies, then there is no God.”

We have received so many marvelous comments on this topic!  I beg you to read them, each and every one.  Wonderful verification for our belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; amazing testimony of our faith and trust in almighty God.  We all have answered the question posed by this person.  Also we have solidified any loose strings we may have had ourselves.  So again, our answer to the question is NO!  God does not lie.  But there is much more to this subject–read and study your Bible.

To sufficiently answer the posed question in a short blog would be impossible.  And I won’t belabor the point here.  The crux of the matter is do we have faith in something greater than ourselves, belief in a higher power, a book of words spoken by a being who calls itself, the I AM?  We as Christians, affirmatively shout “YES!”  Atheists poo poo the whole concept of a God of the living, a God period.  To that, we lift their souls up to God and leave it in His hands.  He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands, you know!

PS:  It’s important to study and believe the beatitudes, for they dig deeply into the well of sufferings.  One will find the true meaning behind our struggles here.  It’s all about spiritual growth, preparing for the kingdom of heaven.  We will find that the greater the growth, the greater the joy and wonders that await us in heaven.  I plan to dwell on this on my next post.

Thank you all for educating and edifying one another in this gathering.  Wonderful union, the family of God!  🙂

Does the Bible Lie?

Recently an atheist commented on one of my posts:  “Why do Christians suffer if the Bible says God protects them from evil, death, pain, etc.?  It’s all lies.”

I’m preparing a post to answer this question.  It’s in the works.

I would love to hear your response to someone asking you the same question.  It’s a great exercise in apologetics.

I’m waiting…
